Weather Station
We now have our own weather station.
The children will learn about the weather and helps predict whether or not snow is likely or not since our altitude is 120m we are more likely to see snow than the centre of Falkirk and have struggled some years due to quantities of snow.
Also having the weather station available on this site, allows parents and carers to check our local weather conditions in case of severe weather or providing their children with the appropriate clothing to suit the current conditions. I do hope you will find this of benefit and should you like to know further information that is available then please visit www.scotweather.co.uk.
We wish to say sorry for the lack of service from this site. This has been due to the site being hacked.
We have now resolved the problem.
No information on your children are held on this website so no personal information has been compromised.
Due to the increasing risk of Flu and Swine Flu in the Falkirk area I have written a new policy with regard to how it is to be managed within my childminding service.
Full details of the policy can be viewed HERE or via the left hand menu Flu/Swine Flu under the Policy section.
Finally managed to get booked on the Level 1 BSL course again as a refresher for my sign language skills.
Hopefully, I shall continue onto Level 2 as soon as possible.
A group of us went to Blackness Castle on the 5th August 2009. The weather was superb with plenty of sunshine and warm too.
I wouldn't recommend taking small children to visit the inside of the castle as there are lots of rocks, uneven staircases and high drops. However, the exterior of the castle is perfect for even small children to relax, play and eat. Blackness has some lovely small beaches very near it and is ideal for beach combing. We will not be visiting the castle interior again with small children.
Once we left the interior of the castle we enjoyed eating our lunch at one of the handful of tables provided. The kids enjoyed a kick around game of football and even some Italian tourists joined in the fun by kicking the ball back to the kids when it went too far. It was so nice we all had some lovely ice cream too.
We've been to Edinburgh Zoo on the 28th July 2009 and thankfully the weather was just about perfect. Not too hot and sunny with the occasional shower to keep us cool.
We got to see the tiger close up and personal as it was lazing around right at the window. We also watched the penguin parade, saw the baby pygmy hippo and the rhino's lazing in their jacuzzi. So a totally fun day all round. Bit of a late return due to all the problems with traffic caused by roads being closed for the tram works. Other than that what a fabulous day. The children which went to the zoo couldn't stop talking about their trip away for about a week after. Well worth doing again !
Just to keep you updated with regards to the rear decked area. We have now used a liquid treatment which is pet, human and eco friendly on the decking. We are hoping this treatment will reduce the amount of algae growth in some areas which allows the decking to become extremely slippery when wet. We shall also be applying another treatment and staining in the next couple of weeks.
The front of the property has also been treated with a pressure wash to remove built up grime with particular attention being made to the porch area and driveway.
The fencing to the front of the property has now been repaired after a football was kicked against it and knocking off one panel.
The boiler maintenance unfortunately, had to be cancelled however, a new appointment will be made as soon as possible.
Just a quick update!
The kids and I have already been on some exciting trips out including Soft Play and Ten Pin Bowling.
Two weeks ago we also took a trip to the cinema to see Ice Age 3D. What an excellent movie and the kids were totally engrossed with it and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Our trip to the ten pin bowling was also a great success with the youngest of our group at 4 years old winning the game over 4 other kids and I.
We are planning on visiting Blackness Castle and Edinburgh Zoo over the next couple of weeks.
