Children as we all know can be somewhat accident prone and can and no doubt will have the odd bump, scrape or cut from time to time. However, as a childminder we have to plan for the worst to happen. Thankfully, in all my time as a childminder I have never had to call the emergency services in respect of minded children. So please be reassured that your children will be in a safe caring environment.
What you can expect
Should your child be involved an an accident whilst being minded, your child will be provided with emergency first aid, taken to the doctors or hospital as required.
I will contact you as soon as possible by telephone in the unlikely event that an emergency takes place. You should then proceed to the destination specified by me as soon as possible.
Although major accidents are rare they cannot be ruled out. Be assured that the wellfare of your child is paramount and they will receive the best care possible.
Please be aware if a major accident happens that requires the ambulance service, that you will be contacted as a priority on your chosen contact numbers as soon as your child is safe, stable or handed over to the paramedics. You should then proceed to the destination specified by me as soon as possible.
You or your chosen contacts are required to be contactable at all times whilst your child is in my care. Please ensure that I have current emergency contact information. You can download an Emergency Contact Information Sheet from our download page. Please complete and return to me as soon as possible if your information has changed.
An accident report will be completed by the childminder and you will be asked to sign it as soon as possible after the incident.
Should I become ill or injured your children will be looked after by my emergency contact who is Carol MacDonald or my husband, until you are able to collect your child. Carol is a fully registered and inspected Childminder. My husband is police checked as is Carol.
We are required by the Care Commission to report all accidents and incidents.
